ABOUT US: Panhandle Forestry Services is a natural resource management Company that provides professional forestry and wildlife management services for both private and corporate landowners in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Panhandle Forestry Services was founded in November 2000 by David Morris and Barry McGaughey who both had a background and years of experience as professional foresters working for large industrial paper mills and saw mills. The first office was opened in Chipley, Fl. with Cheryl Martin as Controller and Office Manager. From the beginning Morris, McGaughey, and Martin were committed to building a business centered around honesty, integrity, and professionalism. That goal and commitment has never changed and never will.
Since November 2000 the company has experienced tremendous growth adding additional office staff and four professional foresters. In 2007 Morris and McGaughey partnered with Dwayne Taylor of D&S Logging to form Chipola Timber Harvesting, Inc. and started the first company owned logging operation. Taylor is a third generation logger with over 35 years of experience in the logging and forest industry. The trio also partnered on D&S Logging and maintain it as the trucking arm of the logging operation.
Today Chipola Timber and D&S Logging have grown to include six company logging operations and 27 log trucks. Panhandle Forestry also contracts with 15 other private logging contractors to harvest and deliver timber to mills in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. With over sixty team members now, the partners feel extremely blessed to have such high quality employees. All of the employees, from the office staff, equipment operators, truck drivers, mechanics, and foresters are all an essential part of the team. In 2022 Panhandle Forestry Services harvested and delivered over 1.1 million tons of timber to mills and reforested over 2500 acres on private non-industrial landowners. Recently Panhandle Forestry was featured in Southern Logging Times magazine and Timber Harvesting magazine for their leadership in the forest industry. All three companies are members of the Florida Forestry Association and the Southeastern Wood Producers Association.
